Hello, my name is Josie Rose and I am a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor who works with families, couples, individuals and children. I was trained in both Mental Health Counseling and Play Therapy. I have experience in working with children and adolescents, along with those whom suffer from dual diagnoses, trauma, autism, anxiety and depression. I am a qualified AutPlay therapist and I have also received specialized training in working with LGBTQ youth.
Here is a little about me. I attended Southwest Baptist University, where I was a member of the Bearcat Softball team, and graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree. After graduation, I worked as a community support specialist, where I coordinated services for clients and managed a caseload of adults with severe and persistent mental illnesses, along with drug and alcohol addictions, to improve their independent functioning in the community. After my time as a community support specialist, I became determined to equip myself with further education and tools that may benefit those in need and decided to attend Graduate School. I obtained my Masters in Counseling from Missouri State University and have been working as a Counselor ever since. In my free time I enjoy coaching girls softball and hope to one day specialize with youth, aspiring athletes, and athletes in transition.
My philosophy is that people are naturally resilient, and provided with the right type of resources or insight, have the capacity to make positive changes. I believe that counseling is a process in which the counselor and client work together to explore the client’s inner world. Ultimately, I believe that it is the client who heals him or herself, and my job is to provide the resources, insight, and encouragement needed to facilitate that process. It is never too late or too early to take your step forward and I am here to help you take that step!
