Kristine Wullenweber

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 25 years experience working in the mental health field and I truly love what I do! I am dedicated to assisting children, adults, couples and familes in their efforts to address past and current challengs, utilize their intrinsic strengths and resources and create happy, fulflling relationships.

The foundation of my clinical practice is a strong respect for the wide range of cultural, psychological, and spiritual histories people possess and a commitment to using scientifically based treatment interventions to ensure they are provided techniques tailored to their unique needs and goals to achieve maximum outcomes in a timely manner. I utilize interventions that support trauma informed care approaches incorporating the mind/body connection to treat the "whole" person. When indicated, I use a team aroach with physicians and other professionals to coordinate therapy needs and goals.

I am a Level II EMDR Clinician and a Certified Trauma Therapist. I am experienced in a wide variety of therapeutic techniques including Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Parent-child Interaction Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness based approaches and various art and play therapy techniques.

My therapeutic style is warm, open, forthright, honest and supportive providing for the opportunity to form a trusting, collaborative relationship in which clients feel respected, safe, secure, and able to consider new perspectives necessary to achieve a more balanced and fulfilling life. I integrate various treatment approaches in a safe, comfortable, confidential environment where clients can realize personal strengths, heal past wounds and develop tools for continued growth.

With almost 20 years of experience parenting children with various traumas and challenges as a birth mom, foster mom and adoptive parent, I have become very passionate in my work to help families heal from challenges such as trauma, abuse and behavioral difficulties and find joy in one another again! Over the past several years, I have begun specializing in children and families experiencing trauma such as abuse, neglect, domestic violence, separation/divorce, out of home placements, foster care, adoption and medical challenges and significant behavioral concerns. I integrate various treatment approaches to help children and parents understand the psychological and emotional impact these issues are having on the health and well being of all family members. The family as a whole learns new ways of responding, communicating, and parenting thereby promoting safety, security and healing. I have experience with all ages and a wide range of presenting concerns including but not limited to: parent child relational problems, child behavioral difficulties, trauma, abuse and neglect, post traumatic stress issues, First Responder concerns, adjustment disorders, marital/couple issues, emotional dysregulation, co-parenting issues, family challenges, domestic violence, medical conditions, focus/attention challenges, school issues, mood disorders, deprssion, self-esteem issues, anxiety, grief and loss, sexual abuse and life challenges.

In addition to individual, family and couples therapy, I will be offering both clinical and educational groups. If clients are comfortable with dogs, I also have a wonderful animal assissant, Denali!

I am available to discuss any clinical questions or concerns prior to a session.
